Frequently Asked SEO Questions

One thing you will notice across the board with SEO agencies is they repeat the same vague answers including “It depends” “6 months” “Google updated” and so many more.  So we decided to help educate business owners, SEO agencies, and anyone else playing with SEO with REAL answers and really simple to understand explanations.

SEO Questions

What does SEO stand for?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation also known as Search Engine Optimization in the USA.  Which means optimising your website to rank and show up when a user conducts a search on a search engine such as “chiropractors, electrician near me, cleaner near me, etc…”.

Why is keyword research important?

Lots of businesses and SEO agencies fail miserably at keyword research.  Because most of the time they either don’t know how to do it or understand how to do it properly.  It’s far more time consuming than just looking at the keywords/phrases that have the highest search volume.

You need to evaluate which ones are going to convert.  For instance if you were a solicitor and you only took on family law would it be wise to rank for “solicitor”?  Yes & No depending on where they are sitting on the totem pole.  However, focusing on family law solicitor and related terms would yield more customers and fewer calls from people looking for a service they don’t provide.

How do I know SEO is really being done after I pay?

We understand you may be on edge due to past experiences. But we are fully transparent and supply ranking reports and we explain our strategy before we begin thus allowing you to understand the process and expectations.  As we progress and you start to see a return then you will start to trust us more and once we have established a good working relationship we can progress and grow further on other recommendations.

Over time we will gain your trust and prove to you that we aren’t like any other SEO agency.

But I Heard SEO Is Dead?

People have been saying SEO is dead since the 1990s. SEO isn’t dead, however, what is dead is easily ranking without some kind of technical background in how algorithms and search engines function.

Some Nottingham SEO agencies are lazy and want to charge as much as possible with doing the least amount of work possible.  The days of doing an hour of SEO and charging a monthly retainer are over that aspect is dead.  But those of us actually putting in the work and giving business owners what they pay for, well we are thriving!

What Is The Hardest Part Of SEO?

You’re going to laugh, it’s not Google updates, implementing the work, links, and not even the content.  The hardest part of SEO is the business owner.  Yes, most business owners are their worst enemy.

Because the majority of them have been burned in the past they are on guard and when we say hey this is a great idea, we get the firewall “NO” “NO” and “absolutely not” “I heard this is a bad idea”  so you hired a pro to get expert advice but insist their strategy is a bad idea?  But if you knew what was best wouldn’t you be ranking?  So the hardest part is breaking down that firewall and building up the trust to accomplish the goals and financial freedom they truly want.

Do You Offer A Guarantee?

Dying SEO agencies offer a guarantee, they are desperate to get paid and most of the time their guarantee policy covers them from actually refunding your investment.  This is why finding a good SEO agency in Nottingham is so hard to do.

It’s not just an SEO company problem it’s also business owners want a guarantee and that’s understandable, however, can you name one relationship that started off with a lie that actually worked out?  Slapping a guarantee on something that nobody can possibly give unless of course, they own Google otherwise it’s a lie!

Most of the time these guarantees are very vague and can even include simply being found the first page for keywords such as your business name.  I have also seen companies rank keywords in certain zip codes and be like see we followed through with our guarantee.  Look I can guarantee you that we will work as hard to get you the best return on your investment possible.  We aren’t going to focus on keywords/phrases that aren’t going to achieve your goals.  Our goal is to increase your revenue period!

What Is Cookie Cutter SEO?

The majority of SEO agencies use a cookie-cutter approach, basically, every business is the same dough and it doesn’t matter what shape the cookies come out looking they all taste the same right?

Wrong!  Google’s algorithm is slightly different for each industry and area just like vehicle manufacturers they all have an engine, transmission, etc.. but each one is unique the same rules apply with SEO.  So the fundamentals are the same however, one thing may hold more weight and you want to focus your marketing budget on things that are going to work the best for your industry.

If I Sign Up How Does It Work?

Because we don’t offer cookie-cutter SEO, we perform a full audit of your business.  This goes well beyond SEO we need to know your goals, vision, and ultimately where you currently sit.  After we understand your industry and goals we evaluate how to achieve these goals.

We then start a beginning ranking report, competitor analysis, and strategic plan and then we implement all of these things to get you the best boost possible for the budget we have to work with.

Much like “a vision without action is merely a dream.”

About Our SEO Services

Search Engine Optimisation

Our approach is much different than our competitors for one we take a marketing approach vs completely reliant on rankings.  Yes, rankings are important but search intent, conversion, and making sure you are targeting the correct terms is far more important than rankings alone.

Rankings are only as good as the set of keywords or phrases.  Obviously some are going to perform better than others which is why Google charges more for certain keywords when using Adwords.  So our approach is getting you the best return on your investment by achieving rankings, goals, and overall discovering things that will boost your conversion this is all on top of increasing your rankings tremendously.

Maps SEO, AKA GMB SEO

If you offer a local service this is one avenue of marketing no business owner can afford to ignore!  Maps SEO converts much more vs organic.  Most SEO agencies tend to try to steer you away from GMB because no matter what position they are put in they are vulnerable.

If you find someone who can do GMB SEO you could possibly leave your current SEO company for this new agency to do all of your marketing.  Also, if they allow you to hire them for maps SEO and they don’t perform (Which they most likely won’t accomplish) then they might lose you as an overall SEO client.

I started my business adventure taking on only GMB SEO clients of course back then most people referred to it as Places and changed names many times since then.  Many SEO agencies were hiring me to be a silent provider or known as Whitelabel meaning they marked up my services and turned in progress reports to the business owner with their info on it vs mine.

Organic SEO

While GMB SEO is great for local service companies, organic still produces jobs.  It’s a huge revenue booster for companies selling products because you can literally show up worldwide, locally, or even country-specific.

Personally I believe SEO should hit as many avenues as possible because more equals more revenue.  Organic SEO is referring to ranking your website vs your maps listing.

Web Design

Your website design is one of the first things people see about your business.  It’s the front line between that phone call or not.  My clients tell me all the time that their customers tell them that the reason they hired them was because of their website.

It also makes our job much easier having a good website design that functions and can perform all the tasks at hand easily without problems and limitations.

Communication

Frankly, communication is the key to success.  Without communication, even the best companies will fall.  Take eBay for instance what is the difference between them and Amazon?  Amazon took communication seriously and also weeds out bad sellers etc.. eBay couldn’t do that with only email support.  Which allowed Amazon to come in and become what they are today.
